KR Group donates £18k van to Brian House
Preston-based KR Group has donated a 6-seater van to Brian House Children’s Hospice to help support its transport needs. Brian House Children’s Hospice is the first of three charities that KR Group has chosen to support with others due to be announced in the coming months.
Due to rapid growth at KR Group, the three-year old van – affectionately named ‘Princess’ by facilities manager Steve – no longer meets the company’s requirements and following a review, the decision was made to donate the van to the children’s hospice rather than to sell it.
‘Princess’ will help with the day to day running of the hospice, its fundraising events and driving children around as and when required. The current retail value of the van is circa £18,000 and KR Group will ensure it is fully operational with MOT, service and a full tank of fuel.
Simon Thompson, CEO, at KR Group said: “Over the past few years, KR Group has grown significantly and we found that Princess simply didn’t meet our needs any more. Rather than sell the van, we wanted to make a difference in the community and realised that this might be the answer to one of the many challenges that our chosen charity – Brian House – faces on a regular basis. We chose to donate Princess as this will have a positive impact on the children, staff and finances at Brian House – a truly deserving charity that does a huge amount for the local community!”
Janet Atkins, Senior Fundraiser at Brian House Children’s Hospice commented: “We are delighted that KR Group has decided to donate their van to us. It will make such a difference to how we are able to operate not only at Brian House but also at Trinity Hospice. Previously, we regularly had to resort to hiring commercial vans and mini-buses which can be expensive.
“Having this van which we can use whenever we need will make a huge difference to us. This donation will also free up funds which otherwise would have been spent on hiring vehicles to be used elsewhere. From everyone here at Brian House and Trinity Hospice I would like to thank KR Group for this fantastic donation.”
