KR Group supports The Boathouse Youth

4th February, 2019 - 12:00pm

22 March 2019: Key Retirement Group (one of the UK’s leading retirement finance experts with its head office in the North West) will partner with The Boathouse Youth – which supports young children through positive recreational and educational activities – and will become a ‘Platinum’ corporate patron of the charity.

Operating in two of the most deprived communities in Blackpool, where more than 50% of the children are classed as ‘living below the breadline’, The Boathouse Youth’s mission is to break the cycle of deprivation and empower today’s children to become productive members of society. The Boathouse Youth aims to provide a variety of activities inspired to build confidence, restore self-esteem and bring happiness to the lives of its young members.

The Boathouse Youth relies solely upon grants, generous benefactors and local fundraising support to provide these services and Key Retirement Group (KR Group) will focus on helping to contribute via volunteering and fundraising activities.

Simon Thompson, CEO at KR Group said: “The activities and services provided by The Boathouse Youth are tailor-made to help break the cycle of hardship some young people face. They work to increase aspirations, boost confidence and enhance the ability to secure employment, giving the skills and abilities to lead successful lives.  As a financial services company that works mainly with the over-55s, we are delighted to support such a worthy cause – our customers care deeply about the prospects of the next generation.”

Laurance Hancock, CEO at The Boathouse Youth said: “The most significant barrier facing our members is their financial circumstances. This is why we provide all of our services completely free of charge. Without The Boathouse Youth there would be no other recreational outlet for the children and young people of these communities, the resultant effect of which would be an inevitable gravitation towards anti-social forms of behaviour which could have a negative long-term impact on their lives  We are delighted to be working with KR Group to help tackle these issues.”
